Matt Young, President
After a successful career spanning more than 20 years in the construction industry, much of that time with a major engineering firm, Matt Young embarked on a pivotal career move. All those years of successfully managing intricate engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) projects, as well as construction-only initiatives within the utility domain only fueled Matt’s aspirations to build and command the helm of his own company. Consequently, in 2020 Matt joined forces with the owners of PowerGrid Services, LLC to expand the company’s efficiencies and capabilities, together forming GridTech, LLC, an innovative startup in the substation and transmission drilling construction sector. In less than 3 years, under the leadership of Matt as President, he and his dedicated team propelled GridTech to the forefront of the industry, establishing it as a beacon of excellence and reliability. Winning and successfully completing major contracts with the largest and most desirable customers in the industry and driving positive revenue and profitability.
The successes of Matt and GridTech along with its rapid organic growth did not go unnoticed by the industry or his partners. In 2023 Matt was approached to take on the role of President of PowerGrid Services which included its umbrella of 16 individual operating groups, 2200 employees, serving a broad area of the United States and outlying islands in the Power Delivery sector. Matt officially transitioned to the role of President of PowerGrid Services in October 2023. Matt‘s career is a testament to his result-oriented, self-driven leadership style. His ability to nurture and empower management teams has significantly boosted operational efficiency and profitability. He is extremely proactive and leads with an innate decisive nature while always bringing his humor and positivity to every challenge.
Beyond his professional achievements, Matt is deeply committed to his family and the community. He actively engages in coaching various sports teams, a passion fueled by his daughters’ participation, and collaborates with local community sports programs to enrich the experience for young athletes. An avid lover of the great outdoors, Matt enjoys spending his leisure time hunting, fishing, and playing golf which reflects his personality and commitment to a balanced life.
Daniel Sexton, COO
Daniel Sexton joined PowerGrid in November of 2017 as the VP of Transmission Construction. His initial role with PowerGrid focused on growth and successful execution of Transmission projects. As the company continued to grow, Daniel did as well and accepted the role of Chief Operating Officer in April of 2020. Daniel’s extensive experience in distribution and transmission construction has allowed him to be successful in this role and continue to safely grow the PowerGrid Organization.
Daniel began doing powerline construction in 1996, just months after graduating high school. In his 26 years in this industry, he’s worked his way up through the ranks from groundman to journeyman lineman. In 2006, he moved into management, where he says he enjoys managing people, building customer relationships, and helping maintain PowerGrid’s reputation as a premier utility partner.
An aspect that is especially important to him is the opportunity to impact team members positively in their work life at PowerGrid. He is passionate about his faith in Jesus Christ and allows it to guide his decisions, perspectives, and leadership.
Away from work, Daniel enjoys spending time with his family and being outdoors year-round, golfing in the summer and hunting in the winter.

Mandy Dunkin, VP of Business Development
Mandy Dunkin joined PowerGrid in 2016 after being approached by the company’s founders – a group of experienced, business-driven individuals who wanted to create a company that would stand apart from the industry competition.
Prior to joining PowerGrid, Mandy served in various roles within the utility industry. Mandy was part of the original team that helped found and grow PowerGrid the successful organization it is today. The new company had a humble beginning, with six team members sharing a one-room office during the initial start-up.
Mandy initially served as the company’s Director of Administration while pursuing her Master of Business Administration degree. As the company continued to grow and create dynamic management needs, she migrated into the role of Vice President of Business Development. Her primary activities include meeting and developing relationships with customers and business partners and representing PowerGrid at conferences.
Mandy describes her experience as “truly a joy,” watching the company grow from a plan to flourish into an abundant reality. She lists meeting people and gaining industry knowledge as her favorite aspects of the journey.
